I have seen pictures quite similar to this in terms of "the red string of fate" but what I like about this one is that they aren't quite strings as they are ribbons. I don't know if it was intentional but it kind of evokes a stronger "bond of fate". As if she were tied.
Originality of the pose, again, I've seen it several times. If it were, maybe, a slightly higher or lower point of view with some perspective I believe it would pack a more powerful punch and more than likely evoke stronger feeling.
Coloring overall is absolutely gorgeous and the attention to detail is very pretty. Especially the bottom part of the dress.
I may be sticking my nose in a bit too much if I say this since I haven't seen or read your story but the only thing that I thought could use a little tweaking is probably the bright color scheme. The look on her face is demure and yet I feel all the bright color around her may be subtracting from the somber feel of the piece.
Well that's all the nonsense I've got to say. It's my first time writing a critique so I hope I've been fair.
